Lil’ MDGs is the collaborative effort of three youths in different parts of the USA. Daylan, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lil’MDGs, is a young visionary with a passion for global issues. Dokhtiran which literary means Iran’s Daughter in Farsi is an electronic magazine published on a monthly basis targeting women’s rights issues. The main philosophy and aim of the magazine is to increase knowledge of women, to inform female readers of their rights and to give them opportunities in society. This site is a medium of communication to the youth and public on the need to save and protect our environment, while the toilet project is a solution of the pollution of the river by direct human waste from informal settlements. The site has seven pages with different content about the river, the toilet project and me. I believe that the river would have been of great use to the Nairobi residents and a pride of Nairobi city.

The Extraordinaries is a crowd sourcing smartphone software that allows volunteers to perform small tasks on their smartphones in just a few minutes. “Be Extra”enables everyone to do a social good from any place on earth within cell phone reception and makes it feel like a game.

Working with the youth from the slums in Nairobi is a tricky affair. It calls for patience, tolerance and a high sense of knowledge about; their basic characteristics, unpredictable changes in what they like or dislike and the ability to cope with these changing trends in their overall behaviour. Working with youth in the slums enables one to understand that their indulgence in social vices is only a cry for attention. Young people love inclusion. They like being recognized appreciated in whatever they do and encouraged. It is evidently a fact that youth within the ages 15-35 years are a resourceful group in terms of their creativity, intelligence and vigor.  In this regard therefore, the society is challenged to realize the potential of this energetic group so that they can also participate in the maintenance and sustainability of their respective communities. This is only way that they would feel they are part and parcel of their communities and hence get a sense of belonging.- LUCY MATHAI,
